- Description:
Gift Shop Associates help run the hospital's volunteer-staffed gift shop, offering patients, visitors, and staff a friendly place to find a thoughtful gift or small essential. Proceeds support hospital programs and patient services.
- Key Responsibilities & Activities:
- Assist customers and operate the register
- Restock shelves and arrange merchandise displays
- Receive and price new inventory
- Keep the shop clean and organized
- Open or close the shop according to shift procedures
- Time Commitment:
One 4 hour shift per week for a minimum of 6 months. Morning and afternoon shifts are available daily.
- Impact:
The gift shop provides comfort items for patients and families and generates funds that go directly back into patient care programs.
- Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Completed volunteer application and interview
- Background check
- Health screening, including TB test and required immunizations
- HIPAA and patient privacy training
- General volunteer orientation plus gift shop register training
- Comfortable handling cash and card transactions
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
