Junior Volunteer (Summer Program)
- Description:
The Junior Volunteer Summer Program gives students ages 16 and up a hands-on introduction to working in a hospital. Junior Volunteers support staff across multiple departments while building skills and exploring potential healthcare careers.
- Key Responsibilities & Activities:
- Escort patients and visitors throughout the hospital
- Deliver flowers, mail, and supplies to patient rooms and units
- Assist unit staff with non-clinical tasks such as restocking and organizing
- Support the information desk during busy periods
- Follow all hospital policies, including patient privacy and dress code
- Time Commitment:
Three 4 hour shifts per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings) from June through August.
- Impact:
Junior Volunteers extend the reach of hospital staff during a busy season and represent the next generation of healthcare workers in our community.
- Requirements:
- Must be between 16 and 18 years of age
- Completed junior volunteer application and interview
- Signed parent or guardian consent form
- One reference from a teacher, counselor, or other non-family adult
- Health screening, including TB test and required immunizations
- HIPAA and patient privacy training
- Junior volunteer orientation
- Commitment to attend the full summer session
