Restorative Justice Facilitator


Description:

Facilitators guide restorative processes that bring together people affected by harm, people responsible for it, and members of the community. Working alongside staff and a co-facilitator, you help create a safe, structured space for honest conversation, accountability, and repair.

 

Key Responsibilities & Activities:
  • Prepare for each case with staff and your co-facilitator, including reviewing case materials shared after you are confirmed
  • Lead preparation meetings with participants before each process
  • Co-facilitate restorative circles and conferences
  • Guide participants in developing agreements that address the harm and support repair
  • Maintain strict confidentiality about all case information
  • Debrief with staff after each session and log your hours in Offero

 

Time Commitment:

About 4-6 hours per case, including preparation, facilitation, and debrief. Sessions are scheduled based on case needs and your availability, with a minimum commitment of one year after completing training.

Your work gives people a meaningful alternative to traditional court outcomes. Facilitators help those affected by harm be heard, help those responsible take accountability, and help reduce the likelihood of future harm in our community.

Requirements:
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Completion of our facilitator training program
  • A cleared background check and fingerprinting
  • A signed confidentiality agreement
  • Strong listening skills and comfort with difficult conversations
  • A commitment to impartiality and to the principles of restorative justice
